My first post on this forum so hi all, gimme a shout if you're heading my way and i'm always happy to meet for a beer.

After having spent the best part of the last 15 years on other peoples i recently bought my own first boat, a 24 foot clinker built something.

So far all i know is from the (vague) previous owner and a couple of guys at the harbour. She was possibly built in the '60s, spent 20 years lying ashore and needed the bow replacing after the planks sprung. Was possibly originally diesel powered but now has a Ford cross flow Sea Tiger 2 motor that is using more oil than petrol.

She had 1 major and 2 minor leaks, the minor ones were prop shaft and bung, the major was around the stern tube. All were sorted for 50p and a pint of Stella.

Does anyone recognise her design? Possible yard? Possible history? Any fellow owners?

She certainly looks like the Solo so i'll get in touch with them when i get a minute. Many thanks guys. When i get the name plate re written i'll add the dots over the 'O'

I have a feeling there is a very modified example over here too which i'll post some pics of soonish.

I'll also try to keep a running blog of repairs/upgrades/restoration on my site.

Nice.
I like the yacht immediately to your right in the big picture. It looks like a little cutter with a counter stern, just like mine. Is it a classic? Any more details or a close up?

I do like yours, really, it's just that I'm into sails at the moment!

I emailed Storbro last night asking for any info they may have and got a reply first thing this morning asking me to look for a serial number stamped on all removable panels, i hope she still has some. They also sent me a copy of the brochure which i have uploaded HERE

Those pictures make me want to run down to the harbour right now with some sandpaper.

I have had a futher reply from Storebro, attached below, they have been very helpful so far, not the service you would get from a car company 4 years later let alone 40....

Hallo Kev,

The Solo Ruff with serial number 820 was delivered to our dealer at that
time Oskar Trost in Düsseldorf, Germany. The boat was equipped with engine
Volvo Penta BB71
with serial number 1618 at delivery. The original wood on deck was Origon
Pine (a light sort of wood varnished) but some customers also wanted teak
deck (not varnished).

The only drawing available here is the general drawing where you can see
the boat from above and in cross section. This we can send to you at price
of SEK 300:- + postage
and 25% VAT. I enclose our payment terms.

After a quick search on the net i cannot find much of use about the dealer 'Oskar Trost' so have hit a bit of a wall there. I am trying to get hold of the yard that gave her a new keel and fixed her up after the bow split apart but they closed last week (and still need homes for some of Guernseys oldest boats).

Clifford_Pope, the boat next to me in the first pic was built in 1908, i can't tell you more than that really. The new owner is there every weekend that the tide allows him. I no longer moor there so have no contact anymore unfortunately.

I do know of a really pretty girl needing love though, will take some pictures this week for you. Approx 40ft wooden yacht, no mast, rotting cabin roof, ceramic toilet and sink. An absolute darling. I would love to see her off the land but would hate to see her go. If only the yard would let me contact the owner!!! Grrr.
