I didn't realise that wet suit shrank with age

With a bit of luck I'll be doing some dinghy sailing this weekend (Nefyn SC lifeboat Race) so I thought I would try on my wet suits to be safe. It's a good 6 years since I last wore them and the shorty has shrunk so much I can't zip it up and the full size has become a bit tight.

They don't tell you that they shrink without regular wearing when you buy them: (

You wait. You will be surprised how much heavier the dinghy is than it was 6 years ago.

Throw them away - the hot dinghy racers nowadays seem to eschew the wettie, and sport very fetching dry suits.

I've found that many items shrink when not worn for a while, but wetsuits are the worst. Not only that, but they seem to go out of shape as well.

Yes, but I've seen pictures of you. You would probably fit into one leg of my wetsuit.

I think your wardrobe must be infected by calories.
You know, these tiny black bugs which come out at night and start sewing your clothes tight.

I just tried my 30(+) year old wetsuit on yesterday to scrub the bottom.

I would have been able to do it up if the zip hadn't frozen with corrosion

I've also noticed how old and wrinkled my mirrors have become- they don't make things like they used to !
