I have a 79 mod 414 that needs help, rear deck is weak, wood (all) needs work, boat is in very used condition.
Thinking of a conversion from 2 single beds to a double bed in the rear cabin. (one bath, sink in cabin)
Good news is that engines is only 3073 hours, and works good.

Links to other projects or tips/picks will be highly appreciated!

Thanks in Adance :-)

Velkommen til galehuset Petter .... and for those not speaking Norwegian ... Welcome to the Madhouse Petter... :) :)

Not being able of helping here specifically, but just wanted to welcome a fellow Norwegian to the forum...

Not to detract from this forum's wealth of knowledge, but for your information I seem to recall that there are a couple of Princess 414's owners on www.baatplassen.no who have undertaken some restoration to various degrees on their boats......

This forum/members in here, like to see pictures of what you are dealing with before they give constructive advise, so if you can post pictures of the challenges you face, I am sure that sound advise will follow...

Thanks! Some pics of the problem area. Roof/rear deck is "soft" and I need to reinforce it.

OK ... I'll be the first one to bite.... Not having seen how a P414 is constructed, the question I have is if the visible wood on the picture is standard factory fitting ??

... then followed by a question around the original fiberglass supports (wood encapsulated in fiberglass ?)... Surely fiberglass does not "go soft" ... if the aft deck flexes more than it should, it implies a structural breakdown of the original "beams" ... ie' possible water ingress into the wood encapsulated into the fiberglass and softening of the wood inside.

So have you drilled a sample hole into the "fiberglass" beams and checked if the core (wood?) of the beam is sound ?

It is clear on the visible wood that at some stage you have had water ingress as the long wood section in the first picture definitely is dis-coloured.
