I find myself in the very fortunate position to be able to afford to buy a med berth. Considering Denia and maybe Torrevieja in the new marina salinas.
anyone been there etc.
also would I be better to sell my sealine 410 and by a boat with aircon & passarelle (possible upgrade to 15m at same time)or upgrade my 410 accordingly and stick it on a lorry /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I fitted a/c on my Sealine S37 in the med (Costa Brava) and you need two units at about 2k GBP per unit incl bits plus labour (say another 2k) Passelle can be anything from a smart hinge manual type (500 quid) to the Bessenzoni many thousant quid type. You could have the boat transported down to S. France (5000 quid) and have a pleasent cruise down to Denia. This will be fun and avoid the cost of the transporters having to get a Spanish licence.
So 11,500 quid minimum so far .... small amount compaired to upgrading the boat.
However watch Spanish boat prices. There are many Spaniards in financial crisis at the moment and the effect has already been seen in holiday home prices. Maybe we will see some boat bargains also.

We are buying a berth at the new Sant Carles Marina tucked in beside the Ebro Delta south of Barcelona (the new MDL one see http://www.santcarlesmarina.com )
They are planning to open it for April next year and it is being built to UK standards with pontoons etc - the complex is going to have the usual bars and shops etc and they are adding a swimming pool.

We've bagged one of the 20m berths and ARE going to upgrade from our 15m to something around or just under 20m.

Perhaps you would like to buy our old T51 - she is fitted with all the Med stuff (air con, bimini and passerelle etc)

See below.

Hi Clive
How do you guys wash down the sides of your boats then?

I think I know the answer.

And what if you want to lift the dinghy off etc - I can think of many advantages to a pontoon berth - not to mention that you dont have to squeeze in when you come back.

Hi Mike yes indeed pontoon berths have many advantages and I do miss em.

Its just that surely the main object/purpose of floating pontoons is on account of the tide going in & out no?

Yep - I'm sure you'r right Clive - Some of the berths (mainly the bigger 30m and plus ones) at Sant Carles will be concrete quays but most of the smaller ones are to be pontoons. I imagine that its quicker to build and easier to dredge if the cover the area with floating pontoons.

Here's a plan of the new site
