Hi
I have an old but generally sound inflatable and I need to replace the towing eye but I am unsure of the material the tender is made from which gives me problems in obtaining the correct 2 part adhesive for the repair. The tender is made by Force 4 (New Zealand) no connection with the Uk chandlery of that name and has an aluminium transom.
Any idea what this may be made from PVC, Hypalon or other coated fabric, and to help in determining this, is Hypalon exclusive to particular manufacturers?

Sailormans link did not lead me to anything useful, but I'm pretty useless at finding stuff on the web.

However through Google.co.nz I have found the website for Force 4 New Zealand and THIS PAGE of their website confirms the material to be PVC [ QUOTE ]
Multi-Layered Fabric
The material used in Force 4 boats is a multi-layered sandwich construction. A 1100 DTEX polyester is base coated inside and out with multiple layers of PVC plastomer resin to ensure structural air tightness. The final layer is a dull lacquered coating for UV resistance.

[/ QUOTE ] I guess you will have to remove the lacquer coating before glueing.

thanks chaps - everything I need to know - should have thought to google nz. Good point to abrade the UV coating before trying to bond repair and notes from allinflatables website about the importance of controlling humidity and temperature very enlightening.
