I have just bought a mariner 60 outboard engine with hydraulic tilt. The problem is i have'nt got a clue on how too drain the tilt so that i can remove the engine from the boat.
I cant drain it through the pump as it doesnt work. I was wondering if it could be done through the nipples on the top of each of the rams. Oviously i dont want too just disconnect the pipes and get hydraulic fluid all over the place.

as i recall on my old evinrude, there was a bypass valve on the right hand side of the pump....i think-that area anyway!...which you turned with a flat blade screwdriver, which released the hydraulic fluid so you could lift or lower the leg....found this out after we ran out of hyd fluid with the motor tilted almost out of the water, on the Kennet and Avon canal in Devizes one day.....much to the annoyance of the fishermen as we noisily made our way back to the slip followed by a huge rooster tail of spray.... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
