I'm installing vetus hydraulic steering on my 27ft fishing boat and am wondering should I use nylon hose for the run or whether this will cause "mush" in the steering? It's only a short run about 5meters, Hose for my installation is 6 x 10mm. Any suggestions?? Vetus do a kit which includes nylon pipe and recommend the nylon has anybody had experience with using the nylon on short runs such as I'm doing??

No prob, but make sure you use the correct fittings.... I tried with standard compression fittings/olives but they would not hold...... once I used special olives for nylon hose then all was fine.

I used copper pipes with short flexible hoses at ram, talk to Hypro Marine as they supplied them. From experience nylon pipe can be affected by heat, for a 5 metre run its not expensive to use copper or a purpose made hydraulic hose.
