I need to replace some hydraulic pipework on my steering. The pipe is currently black hard wall plastic.

How do you make up new pipes? There seems to be a flare on the end. Is there a tool you can buy to do this?

This may seem an odd reply, but I needed some hydraulic pipework for a tractor with odd connectors on the end. I looked in the yellow pages for hydraulic services, its a franchise i think. Anyway took the old pipe to them and they did it while I waited, they have swage presses the lot, very quick and much cheapness! Hope this helps.

nylon hydraulic pipe can be assembled using compression fittings with olives, just like domestic plumbing. the snag is that the external diameter is very slightly different from copper microbore pipe so you can't use the standard stuff from b&q.

Have a look in Yellow Pages under HOSE FITTING & ACCESSORY MFRS - I needed to replace the pipe on my engine sump pump which used a hyraulic pipe and swaged fittings. I used a local company called HCL Fluid Power - cost about a tenner for the pipe and fittings and to have it made up.

We have a company up here called Hydrosun. I thank they have other branches.
Most agricultural comunities will have hydraulic supplies companies.

You can also get all the plastic pipe and fittings from Vetus but it has the 'marine' label and will have the corresponding mark up. I have used both marine and industrial in the past with equal sucess.
