Morning All

I have got a VP 250A (AQ151 with 290 leg). I have had to replace the trim pump with a Oildyne Pump, and need to replace the hoses (previous pump was nicked and hoses cut).

Is anyone able to tell me what the size of the hose fittings are, ie the size of the female cap fitting to the leg and the male fitting to the pump so I can get some new ones made up?

Cheers

Stuart

I've got the end to go to the transom sheild, i think its a 3/8" female dome cap, the end to the pump was snapped off, it looks like an 11 mm tread which is 7/16" male.

Might be best to take whatever is left of the old hose into whoever is going to make up your new stuff.
When mine needed to be replaced, the very large and well equipt outfit we used had to buy them in as they were some weird odd ball thread and from memory the couplings on the transomshield end were different from the the ram connections. One more thing, make sure the total length is identical,as if to long they will possibly deform to one side and get crushed when the leg goes up/down and are a b****er to fit.

The couplings on the transom shield, ie from inside the boat to the rams are fine, i also have a spare new set - win on ebay by mistake !, its the hoses from the hydraulic pump to the sheld, they do look quite easy to fit, mind you could be famous last words !!

Take the parts you have to the hydraulics shop and get them to make something up. As Oldgit says, Volvo managed to find some odd fittings to ensure their customers are screwed from every direction, but we got round it with the help of the local hydraulics shop.
