Hello, I'm looking for sharing experiences with owner of HUZAR 30 Ocean Plus. upgrade, maintenance, weak points, sailing improvements....
I have not come across the wayback machine, so thank you for the link. Glad my memory was pretty accurate. Reading the full web site I came across a link to the survey of Prospero and it makes shocking reading to the extent the surveyor did not know how to repair the topsides to their designed strength. If it's called "Prospero" dont walk- run.
And thanks to the wonders of the wayback machine: https://web.archive.org/web/20140205085501/http://www.channelpilot.info/prospero.php
Hi Concerto, thanks for your answer! I am aware of this issue, I will try to contact "Captain radek" for having feed back on sailing aptitude of the boat.Welcome to the forum.
I have never seen a Huzar 30, but there was a very unhappy owner who had a major problem with his new one. He bought it using the UK agent and decided to sail his new boat back from Poland. On the way home had had problems with the hull and once in the UK he complained to the agent. The agent refused to do anything and the builder did not to help. The topsides had to be cut away as the foam core was not properly bonded and had delaminated. It required compltely rebuilt topsides. The owner had to foot the bill as it was not covered by his insurance and the agent folded his limited company agency to ensure he did not have to pay anything as it had no assets. There was a detailed web site by the owner that covered his problems but he removed it about 10 years ago.
The only person you could ask about performance is this delivery skipper. http://captainradek.com/refit-delivery-out-of-the-blue-huzar-30/
From memory they only built a few Huzar 30's, but you definitely would need a very comrehensive survey to check for potential structural problems.
Hi Bitbaltic, No she is not called Prospero, but she is a Huzar 30 and... too late I didn't run ! bought it last summer, one of the last build (2009). I hope / guess after this misadventure EM yacht was taking more care for the assembling of their hull. thanks for the link of the Wayback Machine, very interesting! If it's called "Prospero" dont walk- run.
