I'd like to find some information regarding the Hustler 32.5 sailing yacht. Sailing performance, lack of, layouts (practical or not), vices (and) virtues, sea keeping capabilities, etc. Would appreciate being pointed in the right direction if no "hands on" information is available.
Thanks.

The Hustler 32 which was also the Verl 33, etc, was designed as a racing half-tonner, by Stephen Jones. The wooden prototype was (I beleive) called Xaviera. The design dates from around the late 70's. I'm pretty sure Hustler's won one or more half-ton cups at the time when half-tonning was a very competitive occupation. It was a radical design at the time, with beam carried much further aft than many competitors, and a fairly upright stem. Consequently it had good downwind speed and stability, and usually won races on the offwind legs. Of course this config is now standard BenJenBav stuff. I seem to remember some were rigged as mastheads, while other were fractional.

Any original Hustler 32 is likely to have had a good few years of hard racing life, so condiiton will depend a lot on what's been replaced/renewed since then. Also internal fit out was very spartan in competitive boats. That's why the Verl was marketed as the 'comfortable' sister to the 32.

Hope this helps
