hi thanks for your replies..the info on the web page is ok but it would be interesting to hear more stuff about the boats from owners ,maybe its a bit low tech, from all reports sounds like a good small boat regards
The Yahoo group is a good source of info here and Oscar will eventually reply to your email to the HOA website (probably!) but the HOA itself seems to be in a transition phase just now, whatever that means. I'd like to join myself if only to get a burgee! Try a post to the group and Martin Palmer may know the current situation,
The HOA is still running - a group of four of us somewhat reluctantly stepped in when John Udy, who had run the Association alone for many years, decided to step down. We are struggling in many respects. We have a register of a couple of hundred Hurleys, but about 60 paid up members - £10 per annum, for which members get the privilege of flying the burgee, if they have bought one, an occasional newsletter if we can find enough stuff to put in one and regular opportunities not to participate in rallies. Hurley Owners seem to be loners at heart - or gregarious enough to cruise in the company of other boats!
We are working on updating the website - especially to include the 24/70, if only because that is what I sail.
I hold some archives, mainly old articles from the boating press and original sales literature, and Martin Palmer, whose name is mentioend elsewhere has a wealth of knowledge on build dates. sail numbers etc. He is most easily contacted through the Yahoo user group mentioned elsewhere which is free and a very active exchange especially on the H22.
You are more than welcome to join, and after a while perhaps you'd like to do more than just fly the burgee.
