Hurley lock overnight moorings

Planning on staying at the overnight moorings at Hurley lock over the bank holiday, but have never stayed there before. What are the moorings here like (believe that they have recently been improved), I know that spot gets very busy in the day with people having picnics there, but does it get quiet in the evening (ie, no yoofs hanging around). Anyone know if I can or should book a space in advance?

Lock keeper will come down and collect your money.

I have experienced problems with yoofs many years ago, but seems to have been relatively quiet last year and year before.

okay may give it a try - although we do like the mooring available at temple lock just before, very quiet there as foot access only available through the lock keepers garden.

The new moorings look very posh from what I can see - even if they're a very odd shape.

Dunno what facilities are there - if any.

However it's a swift walk to the pub, which might have its compensations.

The old moorings - stick and mud variety were very popular, so book early for the new palatial variety.

With it being the Bank Holiday I would stongly suggest phoning up and booking ASAP.
It can get quite noisy there in the evenings if the weather is good, especially on a Bank Holiday weekend. The Islands tend to attact crowds arriving with crates of beer etc. late in the afternoon. Temple is far quieter, but bookings are already being taken for slots for some weekends and spaces are very limited

Hooliganism can be a problem at Hurley (surprisingly). We have friends who had an EA mooring there and were always glad to find their boat hadn't been broken into. Until last weekend - when they moved their boat elsewhere. Now they are overjoyed to be away from the place.
