Thinking about buying a Hurley 22 just wondering if anyone knows how many people we would be able to have aboard

It really deends how big you are......nominally a four berth but four 18stone locks from the local rugby club would be a very tight fit.

Being practical, two is cosy....four if you're VERY good friends or 2+2 for familly sailing.....four for daysailing in good weather. three for a long passage.

Agree, it may even be more. I slept 11 on my Evo 25, and there were more partying on the deck, only kept afloat by the mooring lines to the pontoon, tee hee. I think the total available space (standing room only) could be as much as 20.
More if you have a shallow East Coast berth to prevent sinking entirely.
Wellies, as TCM suggests should be de rigeur. I have the new Yacht Boot Company ones in Red. Fetching.

Excellent should I buy short wellies or long ones, given that I stay in the country the shops have quite a selection to chose from.

Just be careful to avoid the social gaff of turning up in Green Hunter Wellies. I believe the girlie ones with pink and yellow patterns may also make or break your new social circle.
Other than that, choose them to match the boom cover or the spray dodgers, for that vital coordinated Solent look.

I think it really depends on how long your legs are.
I use short wellies as they are quite long on me
Longjohnsadler's wellies are like waders on me and I would need to cut several inches off the tops to stop them chafing my undercarriage

Not sure what the maximum is but it is certainly many more than I would have thought possible.

Lovely boats - Hugo Du Plessis said it was the most nearly perfectly constructed GRP boat. You can only really sleep 2 in any degree of comfort. 4 for day sailing.

we had a H22 .2 people can live in reasonable comfort except that the toilet is under the forward double berth infill piece so its bucket and chuck it if the berths occupied.

4 People are ok for a weekend but would need to take minimal baggage.

Excellent boats.Ours brought us through some really foul weather behaving well at all times.

They are four berth. The 'Club' version had two berths as it had a toilet compartment to starboard
The 24/70 is bigger with good headroom
The 27 is a very reasonable buy at moment.
30/90 has bags of room as does the Hurley Tailwind 38, the Hurley 9.5 motorsailer with aft cabin and the Hurley Sailwind 27.

Nonsense. Recent test have shown that at least TEN people people can be comfortably accomodated on a Hurley 22, although they will need to wear wellies.

[/ QUOTE ]Does the Hurley 22 have suitable toilet arrangements for ten people?
