Hi peeps,

The car on my self tacking jib has seen its best days gone by and I am thinking of replacing it along with the end stops which have turned rock hard .

Has anyone undertaken this task and can advise me on how to go about it especially on removing the end plate.

I can get the spares for select but is this a standard part from elsewhere ?

Thanks

If it's anything like mine on my old Hunter Ranger 245 then remove the end stops, but keep them to fashion your replacement end stops out of new lengths of hose. Black hose, with the ends carefully injected with black sikaflex will look good. The track should be through bolted by a couple of machine screws at each end. These pass through some stainless steel "pegs" that are an integral part of each end bracket. You will almost certainly have to loosen the end brackets where they bolt through the coachroof / deck in order to dis-assemble the whole track. The track may also be bolted though the deck at the midsection. Keep the old track to mark out and drill your new replacement track as you will need the hole positons to marry up with the holes in the Stainless steel pegs (end brackets). It's unlikely the pegs will be big enough to allow any new holes and it's very difficult to drill the stainless. FYI when built the whole thing would have been drilled in situ. Assembly is the reverse of the above. Bolt the ends of the tracks through each end plate (but make sure you put the end stops on the track first!!) and then tighten down each endplate where they meet the deck / coachroof. Sikaflex injected around the gap of each end stop will hold them in place.
