I am thinking of changing my current boat for something a little larger, approximately 24-25ft. I would like the boat to be reasonably spacious below decks, easily sailed short-handed, bilge keels. My main use is short coastal trips. I like the look of the Hunter Ranger 245 and would be grateful for any comments or other suggestions.

I've got a bilge keel Hunter Ranger 245, which I brought for exactly the reasons you describe. I've never been dissapointed with it, if you can get to South Devon I'd be happy to take you out and you can have a good try before you make up your mind.

Great boats - sail like a witch! Especially upwind in fresh conditions. We had one for three years and did a fair bit of coastal cruising. You will need the offwind sail though (Hunters called it a "Scooper" but any std asymetric or spinnaker will do) If I had my time again I would have fitted a bigger genoa as well as the Self Tacking jib so I had the best of both worlds. Really good boats though and well moulded. Get one!
