Hunter Ranger 265

I am trying to help someone who's husband is very ill to sell his boat, the boat is a Hunter Ranger 265.

However she 'thinks' it is a 2002 build, but I do not see any for sale around that year, most look to be '1990 something'.

Can anyone tell me when the Hunter Ranger 265 was last built? I assume all were factory built !

According to Yachtsnet:

"Many British Hunters were sold as kit boats for home completion - the kits being produced in such a way that the end results were usually very comparable with factory fitted boats"

So it could well have been completed at a later date.

Hunters are still going, on the Itchen; may well be worth contacting them, as if you get the right person they may have all sorts of useful info.

According to a list from Hunters dated late 1999 (in information on the member's section of the HA web site), 96 Ranger 265s had been built between July 1994 and February 1999. Other boat models in the list have 'still building' rather than an end date, which tentatively suggests that the model was discontinued in 1999.

That doesn't preclude it being a kit boat which was finished at a later date, of course - boats were available as factory finished, basic kits, or as 'sail away' where the engine and rigging, etc. were factory completed, but the rest of the fitting out was done by the owner.

Do you know the hull or sail number (usually the same)? I would guess that they ran from 1 - 96, so knowing the hull number would give a rough idea of the year of manufacture.

There are 40 Ranger 265s listed in the Hunter Association (if you wish to PM me the boat name, I can see if it is one of them).

At that time the Ranger 265 became the Channel 27, I can remember getting some stuff from Hunter on it having just bought a (new to me) Ranger 265.
