Calling all owners of Hunter Legends - are they any good? I'm thinking of ordering the 326 (bilge keel version) but would appreciate some feedback, vis quality of build, sailing performance (particularly to windward), cockpit stowage space, and after-sales service from Opal.
Any comments gratefully appreciated.

The gist of what has previously been entered seems to be along the lines - if you want a boat to cross the Atlantic or take part in the Sydney Hobart then look somewhere else.

I suspect that for the family coastal use many of us use their boats for then they offer lots of room, value, mod cons etc...

Hello Brian .I have met people who have owned and worked on these boats, bad reports from both camps, although the boat yard liked to see them, and that is not only the problems with stabillity. But if you, who put his money, where my mouth is, are happy good for you. Cheers Bob t

If you would like an informed reply rather than gossip here goes. Opal after sales is faultless, including sending a man to N Ireland to fix hatch problems! The modern bilge keel design is very effective, to the point of beating as well as the shoal keel option I am told, although it will never be as efficient as a single keel. If you want to dry out though..... Hunter make a very competent boat with loads of room and good light weather performance. If that is what you want go for it. If you want a boat that will survive a force 10 don't. Personally I think that anybody who is caught out or intentionally sails in survival situations is mad, or careless. Certainly some comment in this forum is from people who are opinionated morons. Hunter make a LOT of boats every year. Why?
