i'm just about to commit to a complete rebuild of a hunter 47 yawl springtime. built in burnham in 1963.

she was holed, badly! after running aground in jersey in july of this year. At least 6 ribs and 8 planks need replacing.

i will need lot's of advice

any clues on how to obtain plans? sail specs? engine replacements, rigging, interior etc etc..

is it possible to post pictures on this forum?

There is an American forum dedicated to wooden boats, do a google search for Wooden Boat Magazine. Lots of technical stuff there for the wooden bits.

Post specific questions here re the rigging , engine etc. there is a wealth of knowledge out there.

good luck

Re: hunter 47 rebuild perkins 108

Thanks, the engine is a perkins 108 which at the least requires a complete rebuild. Are spares still available or is it more realistic in trying to source a new/replacement engine. Then again the engine mounts etc will need work if i go for something different.
i am happy to rebuild the engine myself if i can source the spares, pistons, gaskets, valves crank and camshaft grind oversize bearings etc etc.
