Hi Folks
First ever yacht, first ever post.
I have purchased a swing mooring on Windermere and just fancied double checking the combo above . I bought the boat with no engine and after overcoming a few issues getting it launched had to get it towed to the mooring.
Anyway I bit the bullet and ordered a brand new Honda 2.3 to fit on the transom bracket. As they only had short shaft they are ordering in the long shaft version. Now wondering will it be ok pottering around on the Lake getting back to the mooring?
Hunter 19 is pretty light so was sure it will be fine but now feeling slightly questionable :o)
cheers
Martin

It will be fine, the little Hunter slips through the water very easily and there are no tides to punch on Windermere.

Probably fine in light winds/ no waves. Maybe a bit slow in to a headwind. I would have spent the extra 5kg on a tohatsu 3.5.

Did you just buy that off eBay? I had my eye on it too, would have been ideal for me for occasional Norfolk Broads use.

Thanks will check the group out . I can sleep better now :)
Engine is brand new from the marine shop next door, hoping they receive it next week and I can pop back up. Wanted the lightest possible so that I can take to the boat on an inflatable.
thanks again

They are nice engines, especially as they are air-cooled so there isn't the potential problem of overheating from a failed impeller!
The trade off being they are slightly noisier.
They also have a reputation for some parts (especially bolts) going rusty, but as you are on a lake I don't think this will be a particular issue in this case.

Power shouldn't be an issue (especially with a well matched propeller) unless you are trying to motor straight into a choppy sea, which again shouldn't be an issue in your intended use.

Enjoy, the hunters are very well-regarded boats
