French technology could be the future

I hope those of you suffering the floods will forgive this light hearted suggestion. I am only thankful we are spared your troubles here in East Anglia -so far

Where this floating bus was actually built I don't know but it looks a great machine with the wheels mounted on hydraulic arms, raising the craft up for good ground clearance as it trundles from St Vaast to Tatihou across a causeway.
If the water is deep enough, lower the twin outdrives on the transom and retract the wheels.

I think that's CH for Cherbourg, not CH for Confederation Helvetique.

[/ QUOTE ]It certainly is - this is our new boat and we are very proud of it. It leaves from the slip by the harbour entrance when there is water or it trundles through the oyster beds from the other end of the marina when the tide is too low.

Especially when compared to the "skeletal London Bus" solution I rode to St Michael's Mount back in the 50's........

Come to think of it, perhaps First Bus could do with a couple to service Gloucester.

Nah, I reckon it was this lot. Mind you, you have to wear a survival suit and a LJ before they'll let you on the water. And it's followed around by a bloke in a deflatable, who job is to give you a quick pluck if you fall in. Where is it? Well, it could be Tewkesbury, next winter.
