The seach goes on.

I've just been to look at a 'Hummingbird 30', nice boat. The spec says 'a later version of the popular and well proven Elizebethan 30........' She looks a but like an Elizabethan with a lazarette (sp?) locker added, loads of storage but it means she's lost that sweet Elizabethan transom. Has anyone got any idea of the history of them? Pitfalls, strengths, weaknesses? They say she was built in 1982.

That's the one, she is lovely and she looks pretty well ready to go. We were trying to work out what the circular mouldings in the cockpit seats are for, I'm guessing the starboard one could be the gas locker lid as that quarter berth is shorter than the one by the nav station.
Good luck if you decide to go for her, we're not quite ready to buy yet.

Ditto about pondering about uses for the circular bits. Large wine cooler? Hot tub for kittens? No, you're prolly right, gas locker etc.

We're also not quite ready for next boat (only just bought first one!), though I'll be jealous of s/he who gets the Hummingbird...

I've just checked the brokers details and they didn't mention about a kitten hot tub, maybe the other one's a plunge pool.

I was just pleased that the boat has two quarter berths, it's hard to find a boat of 30' that's got room for the family and the dog.

So that's the difference between the Hummingbiord and the Elizabethan, the HB is for pet lovers.
