Hi, does anyone own, or know, or have pics of a Hummingbird 30 with bilge keels? I really quite fancy one, having seen one years ago....

i seem to remember them being offered with the twin keel option....one of the modifications when it was developed from the Elizabethan 29....but I could well be wrong. Anyhow, i will keep scouring the ad section to find one.

AFAIK, the Hummingbird was developed from the Thomas designed Liz 30 which was a half tonner, the deck moulding was modified. A very different boat from the Liz 29.
I find a twin keel 30 difficult to envisage, but you never know!

is right, a relatively modern design very different to a Liz 29.

I find a twin keeler difficult to imagine too, but may have the original brochure, not staying where it's ( may be ) stored at the moment but will have a look ASAP.

Definitely went on a twin keeled Hummingbird. I knew it was developed from an elizabethan.

Anyhow, very happy with current boat, but just really liked the lines of the Hummingbird.
Actually, with siltation what it is here be a daft move anyhow! Lift keel is the way forward, I think.

There is a Hummingbird BK at Island Harbour (isle of Wight) which is, I believe, on brokerage - but I wouldn't know which broker. For a 29 footer, they were by no means quick nor commodious, but quite pretty.

Just come across a ref. to a Selway Fisher design called a Hummingbird 30. Twin keel option, ply construction, originally for a YW design competition. Nothing at all to do with the Liz based Hummingbird.
Is there perhaps some confusion here?

The one I am thinking of is featured in the 'yachtsnet' archive. they feature a fin keel, but definitely a bilge option....really doesnt matter.

Hummingbird 30

I do indeed have a Hummingbird 30 fin keel, which, as has already been said was based on the Elizebethan 30.
When the E30 moulds were bought HB yachts altered the retrouse transom on the mould to give a vertical transom and large lazerette locker, the interior was also completly revamped and fitted out with mouldings, ie gally/dinette and cabin sole are all one moulding.
David Thomas then designed a completly new super structure to give the HB a much wider higher coachroof although the cockpit is smaller than on the E30.
I know a person in London with another HB30 fin, he has a friend with a HB30 bilge keeler.
Incidently there is only 9" difference between the fin and bilge keel draught.
The HBs were built in Selsey west Sussex.
As for the comment made "slow (or something to that effect) 7-8 kts is certainly not uncommon on my boat.
This is "Hummingbird", my Hummingbird 30 before the new windows were fitted.
See also here.
Jellylegs pm me if you want any more info or interior* pics.
*My interior is similar to but nicer than the one in the link above.
