Humber/Weymouth 32/34 Nelson hulls

Can anyone shed some light on the history/origins of these boats?

I'm hoping to make a purchase in the not too distant future and I'm trying to educate myself on the background.

I've picked up a bit of history from the Nelson owners club website but could do with having the blanks filled in a bit, ie who was moulding hulls for who, who was fitting out etc. Also trying to get a timeline together. Anyone know when exactly Halmatic bought James & Caddy? Humber boats in particular I can't find anything about.

I know there's at least a couple of owners on here, any help is appreciated!

Hi not sure this is relevant to your post but here goes anyway-i once viewed a Nelson 32 in brokers yard near southampton 3 years ago and turned out to be the tender used on the Ark Royal which must be testament to the boat builders.

Thanks Mike, there was actually someone on here called MonArk who owned an ex Ark Royal tender, could be the same boat:

I had a Halmatic 34 finished by Seaward Marine , it is the same moulding by Halmatic that was called a Halmatic 34, a Weymouth 34 and a Humber 34.

If your looking at a Halmatic 34 its a great sea boat. I had one for 9 years.
