Would also be a very interesting trip if you went north...lots of fascinating harbours to call in at, many at okay rates (but book ahead, whichever way you go).

Covered all of this ground on the round Britain trip I did in '99. Try a news search on 'Grand Tour' for all the pages online that covered this (you can also search on specific harbours to see if I visited them). All pages originally featured on ybw.com and motorboatsmonthly.co.uk.

Did a similar trip 4 years ago.

Went North thro Caledonian Canal. You have Marinas roughly every 20 miles as far as Amble. Bit of a gap then to Peterhead but lots of places to stop.

Canal is good 2 days if you push it but worth taking longer.

Fort William south is great - as many permutations as you like.

Try down to Islay - Nth Ireland - Isle of Man - Conwy - Liverpool All four Home Countries on one trip.

A Thought

Would your boat fit through Leeds Liverpool Canal? It has wide locks.

Could save lots of time if you're doing the trip in winter.

Have a good time
