hull polish

Very interested in others experince re below please<

I have a six month old boat and being very aware of the effects of the suns rays, and wanting it to look good for as long as possible I was thinking of some form of hull polish applied now before there is any deterioration.

What experinces or avice would you give me please

We do ours with Turtle wax. After a trip out in the salty stuff, it gets a quick wash over with some wash n wax. 7 years old, gets a lot of comments about it being a new boat.

I came across it recently after a friend had bought some.

I've no connection etc or as yet any personal experience, but I was interested in the resin stuff that appeared to be just what you're looking for.

Depending on condition and this is going from very bad to good so pick your starting point;

Chalky Gel Coat;

1. G6 rubbing compound with a machine (make sure you keep the surafce wet with water)

2. G3 rubbing compound with machine or without (again keep it wet)

3. 2 coats Nano Tech (seals the microscopic holes in the gel coat)

4. 2 coats McGuires Premium boat Wax (it is th best and beats turtle wax hands down for boats)

Then the most important bit, if you want to keep your hull looking great for ever be sure to give it a mid season clean and wax, don't just leave it till next Spring. it will also mak next Spring much easier.

Polish to clean it up , wax to protect it. Maguires Flagship is easy to use and lasts well, especially if you use a wash/wax, and the occasional top up with wax. Cant promise its the best, but its easy to use (which means you do actually use it !)

I prefer Auto Glym super resin polish, great on the 4X4 as well; easy to put on and buff, and its cheaper than most boat specific items.

I've used Boatsheen products this year. Very happy with the results. Polished and waxed in March, and comes up very nicely with a quick wash. Plan to re-wax in a couple of weeks to see me through to season end.
