I suppose I can't be brave enough to suggest that tcm has never been to Hull, since he did own a Yorkshire passport before the temporary relegation of the city to the 'Humberside' county, but I'd like to know where he draws his benchmarks from in tagging Hull the most boring place in the world (or something like that), as per his forum snippet printed in the new MBM. (Sorry I missed the original post, so apologies if it was challenged at the time).

Now I'm also of West Yorkshire origin, so have no particular ties with Hull, but it does have a pretty good marina, tidy architecture, not too bad shopping, the new KC stadium, the Deep (ok forget that one!), the Truck theatre, and a Makro.

What more could one want?

I suppose considering tc's taste in furnishings, the relatively sane autumn colours used in most Hull establishments perhaps are too boring for him.

Re: Crap towns

Hull is not part of Official Yorkshire which as any native knows is somewhere in the area of Cleckhuddersfax. I have been to Hull, thouggh only by accident - i think Mum got lost on her way to Selby and I was in the back of the car. Of course the car was rubbish too, probably a mini traveller or a Honda Civic.

Anyway, in the official book, Hull is the number 1 crap town in the whole of the UK! see <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.craptowns.com/html/frontsection/craptowns/craptown16.htm>http://www.craptowns.com/html/frontsection/craptowns/craptown16.htm</A> for more.

I did actually buy the book, but gave it to zefender as he lives, works and keeps his boat in three different top50 Crap Towns, quite an achievement.

Well i have too disagree Martyn. I think tcm has great taste in Furnishings, so much so i hope he may become a very good customer of ours/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif/forums/images/icons/wink.gif.

Re: Crap towns

V interesting website. Agree with many of the nominations but am very surprised that no dumps from the former Soviet Socialist Republic of South Yorkshire made it on to the list. My personal nominations in no particular order would be Sheffield, Rotherham and Barnsley with a worst kept village award for Maltby

Re: Crap towns

Whoever wrote the book had never been to Grimethorpe. If ever a town lived up to its name thats the place.

Once briefly worked with a chap from Hull. He claimed he could communicate with people through a mind belt that encircled the earth. He was also a member of a psycic's club but kept missing meetings because he got the dates wrong.
