Hi Guys
Want to dewax the hull of a new boat prior to sanding, applying gelshield and antifouling. Would a SILICONE REMOVER do the job?. Any ideas in order to make the job done right from the start? I know it is imperative to remove all the wax prior and after sanding, but how is the best to be done? A friend recommended to use acetone but im not sure if acetone would harm fibreglass.

You will need to wipe it on liberally and then wipe off immediately with a clean cloth or paper towels. May need a couple of goes to get it completely wax free. You can also use appropriate Gelshield thinner instead of acetone if you prefer.

I've also succesfully used UPVC cleaner on GRP which appears to be as good as acetone although I don't know if it leaves any residue (but doesn't appear to). It can be purchased in large containers and seems to go a long way?
