Finally acquired one of those tiny video cams on a long lead, you know the ones you can shove up your nose or in your ear , or I suppose if you got bored with that you could tape it to a stick and look at your fouled propeller with it.
Connecting it physically to the Hudl is no problem but it must need an app of some sort to drive it. Is there such a thing? (Found it easily enough on a windows laptop)

Yes, an android app called Usbwebcamera by Serenegiant.

It works perfectly on my Moto G phone but is a bit buggy on my Hudl 2 - it does work but not full functionality (cannot remember exactly but maybe will not record ie just live view).

'The software comes on a mini-CD, and if your computer has a vertical drive, you need to lay the computer on its side to load the mini-disc. Once loaded, don't expect any installation. The viewing/capture program is just a single stand-alone exe file (RSCap, by Realtek) that you need to copy to somewhere on your hard drive then make an icon to point to it. The supplied software works (using W7x64) but is very basic. Fortunately, the USB interface is standard DirectShow webcam and you can use the camera with any program like VLC media player or video editing software that supports webcam capture. It doesn't have or need to install a driver.'

Apparently.

Thanks for that - tried it now and, as you say, it doesn't record. Also keeps dropping out. But it is the best/only one found so far.

Indeed.
My problem in a nutshell.

Correction: USBWebcam is still a little "dropouty" but in fact it does allow recording. You don't get that freeze-frame effect you are expecting when you touch the shutter button but the pictures nevertheless turn up in your gallery.
Want a full colour image of the inside of my nose as proof?
