I need to replace HT leads on a Volvo AQ151. This is basically a B230 engine as used in Volvo cars such as the 240, 740, 940.

I can buy a full set of HT leads for the car version of this engine for around £15, but for a Penta version of the same engine I am looking at more like £50.

I don’t want to penny pinch, but £35 buys me 14 pints down the yacht club, and I know what I’d rather spend it on ?

Is there any difference in car and boat HT leads? I can’t imagine so, but maybe I’m overlooking something.

Thanks

Buy the car ones and keep the old ones on the boat in case of any issues, I have used repower marine off of ebay for ignition parts on our old v/p 4.3 v6 with no issues at all in 6.5 years.

Hi, I have an AQ171c and the Cable Kit for mine was an eye watering 250 plus pounds. If you look at the cables there is a Standards Number. I went to a specialist Volvo Car site and after some research regarding safety etc, purchased a Bourgicord set which was much better standard than the Volvo Penta originals. You need to check to ensure that the car set are the same lengths as the originals and the Bourgicord site gave me the details. With mine, the Electronic ignition cable was not the same either in end fittings or length, but I didn’t need that one anyway.
