HT 6354 problem anyone help

I have a Perkins HT6354 (Horizontal) engine which has an unsual problem. It is empty the sump into the rocker cover and spraying oil with some force out of the oil breather. Whilst it is doing this it is showing virtually zero oil pressure. Anyone any idea why this might be happening?

Check that the oil hasnt been overfilled as a starting point.

Other than that, no ideas. Never had a problem with mine (their upright ones though)

Sounds like compression is getting past the piston rings and pressurising the crank case. This will then blow through the only opening it can find, to wit the breather.

Had similar on my Dv10. Once rings sorted all OK
