How\'s this for MDL service
When we have to fork out for our annual marina dues, we may often ask ourselves what exactly do we get for our money, and would we not be better off on a swinging mooring somewhere. Well, credit where it's due, the MDL staff at Hythe recently played a blinder......
Time, approx 22.15, and with only the lock keeper on duty, an owner of a 12 month old, £600,000, 50' motor cruiser realised his pride and joy was sinking at an alarming rate. Electric bilge pumps, and a neighbour manually pumping furiously were losing ground to the rapid water ingress, so a frantic call was made to the lock for help. Their response was quite frankly, phenomenal - the lock keeper called the Marina Manager, who called and collected the hoist operator (they live locally), and in exactly 15 minutes (honestly), from the frantic owners initial call, the boat was hanging safely in the hoist straps. Now, say what you like, that kind of service is pretty damned good, and give me a real sense of securiy.
Well done to David Wilson and his chaps at Hythe Marina, but knowing their modesty, they will probably be be embarrassed if they read this.....
