Came across this on youtube. Brought back memories of watching Howards Way on Sunday Evenings (the good old 80s era). Used to be the highlight of the show watching that sealine zip round the raggie, though i don't think the colregs were followed to the letter :D

The funny thing is that it was reasonably true, that's how life was like then in boat building, and I actually miss it now.

I think I am right in it was Stephen Yardley "Ken Masters" who was at the helm, also I think I am right he was the only member of the cast who was actually a small boat sailer.
Met and had a good chat with him a one of the London boat Shows in the late 1980s.

Was it true that yotting journo Bob Fisher had the task of lying on the floor beneath Kate O'Mara, giving her directions as to what to do with the wheel in the sailing sequences?

The Sealine Ambassador was/is called "Sea Gypsy" and is currently located at Val Wyatt Marina at Wargrave.

From memory is was Chris Colman's, or one of his Quay Marine stock boats, bit of marketing organised by Chris, they also used the offices and showroom.

Largely true, the staff of Westerley Sea School did similar on the Spring 25.

I did a RTI race on a Sigma 33 with Maurice Colbourne on board, lovely chap, hopeless sailor.

Orkadian of Tarrant (Jack Rolfe's "Bloody Boat" that was nicked at the beginning of the clip) is now kept at Bailey's Hard on the Beaulieu River and used regularly. I thinked she's owned by a father and son. I asked the son if it was the original Howard's Way boat and he said that it was, but that he was too young to remember it being on telly.... :)
