I've noticed the water in Scotland seems wetter than that further South, is this something to do with its moisture content?

The water in Scotland is actually no wetter but since it is mostly contaminated with whisky it has a lower surface tension and thereby spreads more rapidly and has a greater wetting effect. The alcohol evaporates more quickly, giving a cooling effect, which enhances the difference.

If the water is too wet it may be too concentrated.
I can sell you some special solvent to thin it down.
It's very expensive because it's for marine use.
