Top hatches CLOSED bedroom & cabin
Windows SHUT
Horn/Log/VHF/Nav/Eng Fan switches ON
Fridge ON (2nd switch across from left)
Ride Light OFF
Cupboard and Doors SHUT
Tops Clear
AC OFF
Life Jackets ON BOARD
Horseshoe Ring
Paper Charts in place
Pilot Book Required?
CMap Cartridge IN & ON
VHF Radio IN & ON
Ignition Keys for Engine
Safety Tub at Hand
Engine Fan ON
Is fuel ON
When did you last check oil?
Diesel Status?
Enough Water?
UNLOCK Dingy/Outboard
Sort Warps for quick detach
Mains Lead Disconnect
Gangway Strapped UP
Engine Fan OFF
Fire Up Engines
Check Fender Position
Bathing platform Steps
Close Slide Door
Warps Off & Clear
Stow Fenders
Depth ALARM set to ON

That makes two of us. I also have an arrival checklist. I am also so sad that I file them away with copies of tide prediction, weather forcast and ship's log from the plotter.
Departure Checklist
Date_________ Engine Hours
Check each area for smells.
Visual check of engine room.
Open all seacocks.
Check fuel level.
Check Engine Oil Level.
Check Gearbox Oil Level.
Engine cold start button depressed.
Check Fuel water trap for water & Dirt.
Open fuel tap.
Check engine water.
Turn on power and check battery voltages.
Check steering lock to lock.
Check hydraulic fluid reservoir.
Check navigation lights.
Check Bilge Alarm
Check Bilge pumps (run the pumps).
Check tide table is aboard.
Fill water tank.
Walk the boat.
Unlock side door
Check and sharpen Knives
Clean Windows.
Hatches and portholes should be secure.
Is everything necessary aboard?
Stow unnecessary items away.
Offer Lifejackets.
Run engine and check water is flowing from exhaust.
Inform responsible person we are leaving and when expected back.
Arrival Checklist
Date Engine Hours
When secure turn off engine and KEY.
Tell Responsible Person we have arrived safely.
Visual check of engine room.
Check fan belts.
Check fuel water trap.
Close fuel tap.
Close all seacocks and put tag in key switch.
Check stern gland greaser.
Check rudder greaser.
Check rudder is in ahead position.
Walk the boat.
Save Ships Log to disc
Check fender and rope security.
Is everything necessary ashore?
Turn off all switches.
Turn off gas.
Wash salt off windows.
Fishing rods put away.
Lock side door.
Unplug all 240v items not in use.
Switch off battery charger
Turn battery master switch to off.
Take paperwork home.
Add any items for to do list.
When learning to fly was told that as you walk towards the particular device you are about to play with,have a proper real good look,does everthing
"look right"
Then go through all the other stuff when aboard that makes you feel comfortable before you go.
1) Did we leave anyone ashore?
2) Did we disconnect that funny blue warp with the meter in it?
3) Do we have enough Pot Noodles, Smash and Fray Bentos pies?
4) Is there enough Bolly and Stolly on board?
5) Did anyone check to see if those big green things are still under the floor?
