Not how I would anchor but he anchors for a different reasons, he has no plan on hanging out a gale on his anchor. For a fisherman moving anchorage every few hours it make sense. Plus they are probably ready to go in case the anchor drags, where as a yacht may not even have anyone on board.

Will be putting the anchor rope in a gorilla tub though not thought of that.
