How to remove Zodiac Futura recessed valve without the removal tool?

Hi I have a Zodiac Futura with a recessed valve (the inner valve with the green button). See photo.

How do I remove it without buying the removal tool from Zodiac (part number Z7057) as it is very expensive for a less than 1 minute job?

Please help. Thanks.

I have the same valves and find that I can do the job with a pair of needle-nosed pliers inserted loosely into the valve and simply turned counter clockwise.

Or attack an old spark plug socket with hacksaw or grinder and cut the appropriate slots
