I need to remove my Simrad NSS12 plotter. I believe that it is straightforward and that the first step is to remove the upper and lower bezels/screw covers, top one shown red ringed in the picture:-

I can imagine that removing these (incorrectly) could easily end in tears ?

Can anyone please share experience / tips of how to remove them without breaking them?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not on board at the moment but they do just pull off... and still manage to clip back on.
As per the picture, they're full length.

I seem to remember just lifting off from a corner.

We have a NSS 7. Our bezels look indentical to yours, but slightly smaller :), fell off of their own accord, I could not get them to be retained securely and left them off.

I think they just 'clip' in. Unless yours have been glued in pace (in which case you might see some glue) they should just flick out with a thin screwdriver or sharp knife.

they are not very sophisticated (unless glued). I had a Simrad technician on board - he said they were poorly designed, as they all fall off.

The Simrad NSS evo3 manual mentions the sliding to the sides to remove.

The Simrad NSS12 manual doesn't mention this sliding motion and neither does the B&G Zeus Touch manual, yet the long thin covers look similar on both.

The Evo2 is the same. Possibly Simrad changed the design if they were prone to falling off.

Thanks everyone ?

As mentioned by @Martin_J the NSS12 manual (mine) doesn’t really describe how to install the tabs and makes no mention of their removal.

My favoured solution is either Semtex or possibly an axe ?

I have to remove it because it no longer reads the card, the hold and release mechanism seems to have failed. Don’t as yet know if it can be repaired or if it will need replacing ?

From your (mostly ?) helpful suggestions, I’ll probably prise it from the centre and see if it pops or needs sliding to one side or another. Next visit to the boat is at the end of the month.
