I have a 1979 Yamaha 8B outboard, I've managed to snap the pivot on the throttle arm making the whole thing useless until I can get it repaired. Luckily I know a tame engineer who may be able to help. The trouble is I can't get the throttle cables off the throttle arm. I've managed to get the tiny end cylinders out of the rotating assembly inside the throttle arm but it seems they cant go out through the cables holes (even though they appear to have a slot for this purpose) because the cable holes appear to be lined with a tiny metal tube.

Is this a Yamaha joke? How do I get the cables off the throttle arm?
