Hi all,

I found a way to drop the price of my coffee addiction using the Nespresso machine from 29p to 5-13p (5p = Morissons Fair trade Espresso / 13p = Illy Espresso Coffee.)

Have a great summer and be good to the environment.

PS Do not store Coffee in the capsules. Nespresso will line the capsules with vegetable oil to protect against aluminium leeching health related stuff that supposedly happens when it is stored for long periods of time which is done in the factory. DIY at home I would not bother with the risk. So fill it, use it immediately and each week clean the capsules out and store for the next week.

If you own the Citiz, Latissima you have the best machines for doing this. The Maestria with it's long arm sometimes gives a bit of agro if I have not placed the capsule in in correctly.

Clearly this is for when you are on shore power. When you are at sea do what the rest do and get either the Instant out or Lyons Coffee Bags (excellent quality) If you drink the Former you will look forward to the Nespresso machine when back tied up after a long sail ;-).

Cheers

James

Rather than all that faff, just get a proper espresso machine?

Proper - I could not afford the £2000 machine I am afraid. The capsules even refilled deliver a better creama than many coffee shops Bean to cup machines and Espresso machines.

The above post stemmed from doing a Barista course and finding out that everything between commercial and basic Vonshef is a compromise.

The Mokka Pot is the next best thing on a boat I find!
