Despite well documented instructions, both professional and amateur, I still read of people having difficulty.

So I have done a pictorial page of instrucion, which I hope people find helpful.

Maybe the forum admin would like to make this a sticky post at the top of the different headings so people can find them when required.

yes your final link does work. and you have obviously put a lot of effort into this.

However (sorry to disappoint) you are not the first to do so!

That looks like a good idiots guide to using Photobucket but that's not the only host that the forums can link to.

You do not include any advice on resizing pictures before posting them on Photobucket. If they are not reduced to say 600 pixels wide not only do we have to scroll to view the whole pic but they make the whole thread wide so that it becomes necessary to scroll to read all the posts in the thread. Ship's Woofy includes such advice in his guide to posting pics on the forum. http://www.topcatsail.co.uk/Posting_Forum_photo.html

A little bit of explanation about the IMG tags would not have been nice.

Also I have had great difficulty downloading the guide, at least the illustrations. Thats with a similar age computer, win 98 and a dial up connection, although I got there in the end.

I'm not in the least disappointed. Can you show me the others guides done in pictures please.

I need to amend that, as Photobucket do their own resizing. Just click edit.

Unfortunately that does not help when you have a 2Mb image on your hard drive when photobucket has a limit of 512Kb. It is also no help to those with dial up who can not wait 4 hours to upload an image.

I thought about including photobuckets edit features but they are too limited to be of much real use - You get no control over the compression or even any real control over the image size.

By using paintshop pro for example, you might also learn some new skills and find the short start I have given will encourage learning more about working with your photographs.

Not knocking, trying to help....

Course you're not. Trouble is, if someone doesn't understand your simple instructions, they are most probably not going to understand how to resize with a complex photo editing program.

So I made mine as simple as possible.....like trying to teach a 3 year old, how to spell C A T.

Hopefully between us we can help some, though probably not all /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
