How to monitor power consumption ?

Hi Bauba,
Thank you very much for your suggestion. In fact, I am considering the solar panel.

How do you evaluate the power of solar panel that you need? For example, how do you know 100W is enough?

PS. This is off the original topic, maybe I should start another thread.
Well you can approach the problem from many directions. First you can estimate how much battery you use, a 100 amp battery will give less than 50 amp hours before it’s completely flat and a 100w solar panel will give about 30 amp hours per day. Because most people don’t use their boat everyday, it would charge up nicely.
The other way to look at it is how many panels can I fit on my roof? And then another thing to say is, how much power do I want? And you might want to buy more batteries.
Also if you have a lot of batteries and a 110v inverter, you can have 110v equipment on board.
All this equipment is cheap and you can start with one solar panel and get more as you need them.
There are a lot of solar panel experts on this forum and also the Practical Boat Owners forum
