Help required please.

Have a compressor at work which has a turbine fan attached to it on a rotating shaft which provides cooling air.

The turbine has broken ( which I think that I can fix with epoxy)

However, the key which fits in the shaft ( same as a prop shaft key), has disappeared.

How do I make or aquire a new one please?

You should be able to find one OK - try Googling "Woodruff Key"to find suppliers.

I would just suggest you are very careful not to use too much epoxy as it may ruin the balance of a turbine fan.

Woodruff key is only used if the slot is a semicircular cut unlike the normal marine shaft key which is square section brass if underwater or steel
You can buy key steel from a good engineers merchant
Just cut to approx length and file the ends as required a good fit is press or interference sides and clearance on top.

Or get a washer of suitable thickness and cut an edge off it and file to fit. They are only mild steel, the taper is supposed to give the grip to drive things
