New boat has a Bengco charcoal cabin heater, what's the best way to light and keep it burning? Looking forward to a cosy evening aboard.

When I had a similar charcoal heater I used to light it with firelighters.
A few times, when I didn't have any firelighters, I used one of those free yachting newspapers ("All at Sea"). Each page was rolled up into a very small diameter cylinder and then made into a pretzel shape. This works very well and "costs nowt"!
The previous owner of my boat told me that he used to light it (the heater) with a blowlamp.

I posted a complete write up on this excelent little heater recently based upon over two hundred burns - just do a search and you will find it. A spoon of meths on the wick will light it every time even when below freezing outside.
