Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can help me. My Father and myself is just about to buy a boat but we stuck between a CallumCraft 17 and this boat that we can't identify.
The reason we want to find out is so we can see what sort of boat it is, the year it could been built etc. But also find out the history about it. The last owners have no idea about it he just bought it with my Grandfather, but he has passed away and took any info with him if there was any.

I only have a couple of pic of the boat called Ogwen 2,

I could get closer to it and take more images but the owner can be funny at times so its best I stay away just for now. If I find any more images I will put them up.

I really hope someone can help me and my father find out what kind of boat it is. The closest we got is MicroPlus but the hull is different to the MicroPlus site. If my father can find any more images again I will post them up for you if you can't tell what it is. Many thanks to you all for reading this and hopefully we will hear from you soon.

It doesn't really matter what it is -- if you are thinking about buying a boat but the owner can't or won't tell you anything about it or let you see it from any closer than twenty feet away, I would suggest you stop thinking about it. Just walk away, and find another boat whose owner is a bit more serious about selling.

Did he let you look inside? Or will you be buying it without checking it out or taking photos?

I think that many buyers take a pic or two of the boat they are about to splash good money on.

I ask as there may be a manufacturers plate inside.

If he won't let you near it then don't touch it with a barge pole.

We not going to buy it without looking at it, Just at the time my dad went to look at it he was not there. So he did not want to go climbing over it without him being there. He a funny old man and we think he was hoping to sell it quitely without giving my dad's half. So that is why we think he is being funny and will not give details about it. We want to know the value of the boat and see if it is worth the price once he let us know how much he wants for it. So for the time being we going to try and go down to see it together and have a look for a id plate of some sort or any hidden marks etc. I have spent the last 24 hours looking all over the net and the closest I come to it is the Microplas/Microplus but the hull is different. While I'm there I'm going to take as many images as I can but since yesterday I found out that the boat is right hand steering. So that helps a very little I guess! lol

Thanks for your imput so far but we not going to let this rest as it does belong to my dad and I think he has the right to have first dips. I will see if we can go and see it tomorrow afternoon once I have dropped off the kids in town with their real dad.

Woohoo You hit the nail on the head Mr Scej You where right not very many about. It was made by Stuart Stevens around 1972 just a year older than me!! We are well pleased so I keep looking for more info and I will keep in touch with any more info for future ref.

That would be great if you can find any info as I'm struggling to find anything on the web. The model we looking at is the Weekender, This is the middle model out of the 3 they made so far up to 1976 when they went bust. But the Loftus was made till 1984! How come that is possiable? But I do know that someone made 2 Weekenders in 2000 and I would like to know if in 1976 some company bought the casts? Things just don't add up so can anyone put light on the subject?

Many thanks JJ

Yep its a Stevens ok, same hull as Loftous Bennet.
It's in a yard about 4 miles from Me.
Not a bad hull those.
OK for knockin about the Strait and area.
The major thing to check is the engine
Cosmetics can be dealt with bit by bit but if the engine is a prob you could run it to substantial costs.
If you want, I will pop over and do a 'Survey'!
Well, I can give the boat a quick once over.
Plus see what I can find out about Her
Can't check the engine obviously.!
Have seen Her afloat on the Strait, without the 'tent' up, looked ok.
It was last year though.
