Excuse me if this subject has been covered before

I have all sorts of resources available to me, the met office, windguru, even webcams, sometimes forum pals, however, If I want perfect weather with flat calm seas, all I have to do is make arrangements not to go to the boat, a wedding, a rugby match or something.

Conversely, I know how to be sure that the weather, sea state and tidal gate will be against me, plan to go to the boat, the simple thought of a trip out conjures up an F6 or torrential rain.

Do you plan to go boating in the next 4 weeks? Can you let the forum know of your plans?

Oh yes

We've two friends who toddled off to the west country for two weeks, made it to falmouth on fog, high winds, now stuck in Weymouth (same as last year same time) their Hurricane hole they call it.

Nice weather up by the solent - poor sods, I always say to them, never forget to take the weather with you -

whilst on the boat, listening to the radio from the peeps down south, you would have thought it was cracking the flags, they were talking about 33'c and heatwave and old people having to be warned to watch the heat and take precautions to keep cool.

up north ere, we have had gale force winds, rain and vis down to 300 metres. althought it was quite warm for the summer, 18'c-22'c. I should have picked another month and not july to go to the boat.

Easy. Buy a boat as I did a couple of months ago, then book it into the workshop to have the bottom blasted, epoxied and anti fouled and a "few other jobs" done. Still waiting, weather great. Just wait - when it's all done in the next few weeks the weather will go t*ts up! So... be warned! I should let you know when it comes out from the workshop....:D

Its easy, i ask my mum when her next door neighbour is going away, then avoid those two weeks like the plague, in 50 years it has never failed.

Forget the met office, satellites, and weather forecasts; its mum's next door neighbour for me, its more reliable than god.
