How to get under a low bridge

As you say, an interesting set of photos. However, look carefully at which side of the bridge the tug is in relation to the taller part of the bridge structure. The first half of the photo sequence is taken looking west (let us say) and the second half is taken looking east. Are we being led up the tow path?

Is that the perspective change from crossing the road, after all the bit of pylon sticking out from the bridge is correct, + the damage to the rails of the tug & funnel.


either that or somebody is good with paint shop.

Yes, you are quite right. I've looked again. It is just the change of perspective. Now I am even more pleased that I went to the trouble of downloading it all. Thanks for the tip.

The incident happened in April 1979 at Demopolis Alabama on the Warrior River.
The tugboat was the 'Cahaba' belonging to the Warrior and Gulf Navigation Co.
No-one was injured during the incident and the tug finished the voyage.

The bridge has now been replaced.
