In an argument with a fuel pontoon we lost and picked up ome scratches to the topside (4" above waterline), one deep enough to go through the gel coat.

Can I wait for winter lay up to get this fixed or should I do something now, I was thinking of bathroom sealer as a temp holing fix!

(Currently heading S towards Bayona)

Thanks Chris.

Fill it immediately with rather too much gelcoat filler and wait until she's out of the water to rub-down and make good.
Whatever you do don't let water get in - nearly all seawater has oil in it and you'll not get a good key if you leave it.
Recommend against epoxy, makes even more of a mess when you come to take it off.

Totally agree with Charles, Dont use epoxy it certainly will seal the whole. Just use gelcoat filler, much easier to remove when making a proper repair.

And certainly DON\'T....

use "bathroom sealant" it is silicone which will prevent the proper gelcoat from adhering.

See if you can get some gelcoat from the builders as although the Plastic Padding "Gelcoat Repair" is spot on for Bavarias, (as I've found out recently!) there are more shades of white around than spots of chewing gum on a London pavement!

We got some from the same batch as the build on our last boat, a Hunter. They use a blueish tint.
