Have just ordered a cruising chute for my ´99 vintage Bavaria 36. Sailmaker says to attach a block to the middle of the bow fitting such that the tack-line comes up between the pulpit seat and the forestay. (chute has snuffer, no furling) The bow fitting is standard Bavaria, single bow roller, forestay attachment and single tube support for pulpit seat.

Does anyone have a picture or drawing of what this solution might look like?

On my 2002 Bav36 I have drilled a hole in the anchor fitting, as far forward as possible. There is a block fitted to this and held vertical with bungee cord. The tack line goes through this block and back to the cockpit. The tack line is long enough that when we pull the spinnacker down the tack will come into the cockpit.
Not as good as a bowsprit but it works.

Thanks for the info .... good idea with the bungee :-)

I have similar set up, I bolted an eye bolt attached to bow roller and holds block which leads back to cockpit via a spinlock clutch, snuffer cord attached to middle cleat. Seems to work well.

I had a canvas strop about a foot long made up and attached by shackle to a block,
I then looped this through the bow roller when I wanted to use it with a bit of elastic to the pulpit.
The tack rope, with a snap shackle on the end for the sail, led back across the decks to a spare jammer.
I used it for years for club racing quite happily until I upgraded boat and splashed out on a bowsprit!

When using our gennaker with our Sunrise 35 I initially went the route of a block attached to the centre part of the bow rollers, using bungee cord to keep it up and clear. I would not route the tack inside the pulpit as keeping the big sail away from the forestay is well worth the effort.
I have just recently made myself a bowsprit from a discarded spinnaker pole (75mm dia x 3mm wall thickness tube), with suitable modifications at both ends to let the tack line run through it. Not tried in anger yet but I set it up to be about 40 to 50cm beyond the bow roller, with about 220cm inboard behind to spread the load. I'll report back when I know how it works ;)

Those vintages of Bav are ideal for the selden bowsprit kit.... Easy install... Work great.

Here's ours on our same age 31....

Anything else is just a bodge.
