How old is to old for a fiber class boat

You could also fill the space under the floor with either foam or plastic bottles.

I used plastic milk bottles as we get milk in square 2 lit hdpe bottles that will stack in a space better than round bottles. I filled each one with spray in foam and sealed the screw cap back on.

Also ensure the frames have drainage holes and fit a drain plug at the lowest point of the transum together with drain plugs to drain the sealed deck.

In the UK, you could buy something like that in useable condition for maybe £2k with an engine that ran, or more with a nicer engine.
Tot up how much you will spend.
Look at lots of similar boats and think about tanks, seats, fittings, there is a lot to get wrong and a lot of bits to buy.
You need to make it very strong, but you need to keep it light.
You need to get the weight distribution right.
It is do-able but it is very many hours work, and unless you do your studying beforehand, it could turn out to be a dog.
It's not a cheap game, if you're going to use it much, the fuel bill will be significant. Also with a big engine, insurance is a significant annual cost.

Technically, I would look in to replacing the stringers with fore/aft bulkheads of foam core laminated with GRP. Save some weight over the old wood and putthe weight back in as reinforcement.
But look at lots of similar boats to get ideas and a feel for how strong things need to be.
This forum is maybe not the ideal one, most people on here have yachts and big diesel motor yachts.
You may find more detailed help elsewhere?

I don't want to encourage you to waste your time and money. In the UK, better boats than that get filled with earth and planted with flowers to decorate road junctions in every seaside town.

Reply to: TernVI yeah thats true hear in Australia I'm looking and for this type of boat I'm looking at dimensions and things and their about 20k+ for second hand and its hard to find true people theirs always something wrong with the boat that they won't tell buyers i hope to rebuild it and put life into her if not i own a themed mini golf and will turn her into a hole ??

its a fair bit of work but doable.
It looks more like deck supports to me rather than actual stringers.
It would cost you nothing other than time and some saw blades to strip out a lot more of the flooring so that you can get a good look at the cross section of the hull over say 6 ' of the mid section. Then when you have a better idea of what is inside and how it was put together you can make a better informed choice of which way to go. This prep work is not lost as it the same whether you a) continue and fix it or b) continue to cut it up for scrap.

If I felt good about the underlying qualities and sea keeping of the boat I would probably go for it.

Good luck. Clive

With this particular boat would the haul seperate from the cap if i was to take off the rubber guard and undo the rivets and lift up or do i need to cut the flooring out

Thanks

Pretty boat.
I guess the budget is the amount worth putting in before it becomes more economical to just buy something else.
It's impossible to judge from two pictures whether this is a good project to be getting into.
It could be fine or it could be a money pit with serious structural failure.

Id get someone who knows their way around to have a good look at it before you go any further.

Good luck though.
